Bobeba - Maybe it's too early for you to test positive? Sometimes it takes a while! I'd say test again in a few days! Good luck to you!
About my period, I went to my ob/gyn today and he wants to run a few tests, check my thyroid, do another u/s to check things out, and he wants me to also get a pregnancy test done. I don't think I'm pregnant but then again I haven't been having protected sex, I had my thyroid checked out last year so not sure about that one, I'm interested to see if anything shows up on an u/s because I'd like to know if there's anything else I should be aware of with my tubes, uterus, etc. He said if my period doesn't come in another month or so he'd make it come!
Love, I'm so sorry you had to go through that. I had the opposite happen: miscarriage in January and then the EP this past July. I asked my doctor the same thing and he said that he still thinks I'm fertile, that it's common for women to have one or two miscarriages the first time they become pregnant and he still not too too worried about it. Easy for him to say, right? Oh well, in the meantime, I'll just have these other tests run and go from there.

Seerah, I would be very shocked if I were pregnant. I have been very careful. I have had a couple of trips planned out of the country and my doctors warned me not to try. It is just frustrating. I guess we all have our frustrations.
What relation does thyroid have with ovulation? Do you think you may be pregnant? My fingers are crossed for you.

Jen- I didn't forget. I know you've been through a lot too. The doctor said today that it was a chemical pregnancy. I thought of you.

Oh jen I was not upset. I didnt want you to think that I had forgotten about you. I hope that it comes quickly. I just began miscarrying yesterday. It does feel like a period. Much heavy than normal though. And I have cramps...all day yesterday and now this morning. So, I am not sure how long this will last. Does this count as my period?
Doctor said he is not ruling out an ectopic. He said not until my numbers return to zero. But, I dont feel like it is. I go back on Tuesday. Thats when we will decide how to proceed.

Andrea...
Rest easy...it doesn't sound like an EP to me if your numbers were going down on their own and never really got off the ground either...and the fact that the bleeding started...in a m/c that usually means your numbers will drop immediately there is not a waiting game like with an EP.
When you m/c the first day of the bleed is like your AF so keep up on your charting etc like normal. Yes for me it was much worse of an AF as well...I usually don't have uterine cramp with my AF I have upper thigh cramps but with my m/c that was total opposite.
Hang in there hun

Hello, well my labs came back with HCG=0 so I am not pregnant and wasnt pregnant (I am relieved by this as I don't have to deal with a m/c or ep again). It is just a very painful AF. I am hoping that next month is normal as I was to try after my AF in november.
How is everyone else doing?

Bobeba- that's a relief I'm sure. I know after my ep I had some very painful af. I remember leaving work one day bc I the pain I was having was so ep like. But, I went to doctor and he was like you're having your period. I knew I was but I thought there might be something wrong too. (I no longer go to that doctor Good news about ttc after af in Nov. Its exciting to be able and ready to try again.

Hi Ladies,
Well, I won't be TTC for awhile; I might have an issue with my thyroid. I had some tests, pregnancy test was negative (worked out in a way, will explain in a sec), pap was normal, had an ultrasound and a vaginal one, those came back fine, the mass that was in my left tube is gone so it confirms the EP yet again, and then my thyroid test came back showing me to maybe have a hyperactive thyroid.
Bobeba, in answer to your question, your adrenal, thyroid and pituitary glands are part of your endocrine system, that which is responsible for hormones (regulates metabolism, growth, puberty, development, tissue function and also mood). I have to go back in three months to get my thyroid tested again because if I do have hyperthyroidism, then it could be the cause of irregular periods, miscarriages and also birth defects! I have an appointment with a reproductive endocrinologist tomorrow for my first consultation.
So, that's why I say things worked out because I'd be afraid to be pregnant right now! I need to make sure everything is taken care of and that I'm healthy before we try again, however this could mean that we can't TTC for maybe six months! I don't know, I'm guesstimating right now, I'll find out more info tomorrow maybe. I'm happy that my pap and u/s came back normal though, at least that's something!
Ladies, if you haven't yet, get a thyroid test and at least rule that out before TTC!

Hi Bobeba! I'm trying to be optimistic but it does worry me that I haven't had a period yet. Both of my doctors (ob/gyn and RE) said that if I don't get it in 1-2 weeks that they'll make it come.
So, I went to the RE yesterday and I'm SO glad I did! He seemed so reassuring and even said that most of everyone that worked in the office had fertility issues and that's probably why they got into the work they did.
I'm going to have a series of tests, sperm analysis on the husband, follow my tests on my thyroid, check and see if I have PCOS, etc. He wants to start out slow, do an HSG, get an u/s done while I'm ovulating to get an idea of how much I'm ovulating, check my FSH (follicle stimulating hormone), and try IUI and maybe Clomid.
What's great is that my insurance actually covers everything! It follows the IL standards on coverage for fertility issues, and I guess the coverage is a lot better here than in other states.
All this makes me feel better, makes me feel that I've got some control over the situation, makes me more informed about my body and will overall make me feel better about TTC again and hopefully lowering any chances of another EP.
One thing though that I definitely need to control more is my eating! Argh, Halloween, ugh sick of candy now, which is a good thing! Night all!

I remember after my EP, I gained lots of weight. Depressed and not doing much of anything. I was able to lose some of the weight, but yes Halloween has done a number on me.
It seems like your doctors have you covered. I asked about some of the tests for me and they wouldn't do anything until I have my second EP (I guess 'if'). I have been having dreams that I do, not sure what that is suppose to mean. It has been difficult lately. A lot of friends are pregnant and some even expecting their 2nd baby. Argh!
How long do you have to wait for your results?

Bobeba, what are your doctors saying no to? Have you checked to see if these tests are covered by your insurance? Why won't they test you? You know, something like a thyroid test doesn't necessarily need to come through your ob/gyn, you can go to your family practitioner. If it's something like an HSG, I would say go to a reproductive endocrinologist. I'm in IL and I was referred to the Fertility Centers of IL, and so far my RE is wonderful! Also, my insurance covers everything and my RE outlined the tests I was going to go through. I haven't done anything extensive yet because I'm still waiting to get my period. I'm supposed to call if I don't get my period by the end of this week. My RE was all about doing an HSG, especially after I told him I had an EP. Also, they explained about having an u/s done when I ovulate to see which side will most likely release an egg to reduce the chances of having another EP.
Anywho, to answer your question, I haven't had any major tests done yet... just waiting for Aunt Flo! About your doctors, I say demand the tests! Especially if your insurance covers it, why not? Good luck to you!!!

Hey Bobeba- My doctor told me the same thing. He said my ep was a fluke, that if I had another then he would do some tests. That was my ob. I went to the gyno for my annual and she recommended an HSG. That is the test where they shoot dye into your tubes to see if they are clear. I put it off for about 4 months. Then scheduled the procedure.
The gyno referred me to a reproductive endocrinologist. That in turn did the procedure that found that my left tube was damaged.
From there I began doing ultra sound monitoring every month.
So my suggestion to you is to find someone willing to do the tests. If its not your current doctor maybe finding someone else would be a good idea.
I personnally thought that since the ob didnt recommend it that I didn't need it. I'm so so so glad now that I went through with the hsg and that my gyno recommended it.

Hi girls!! Well I am finally day one of a new cycle. I did ovulate about 13 days ago so that was a good thing!! I have my HSG scheduled for 11/20/2009. It has been a long long haul since August!!
I talked today to a lady who was the first EP patient to use MTX in the whole united states, she now lives here in Colorado. What happened with her is that they gave her MTX every 2 weeks for 8 weeks So 4 shots of MTX total then they did a DNC and cleaned her out. She is now finally preg. with twins via IVF as she has no tubes left the MTX was her 2nd EP then she went on to have another and left her with one tube then the 3rd took the other tube. Funny how god throws people in your path that has been through the same things as you.
Tracy
