I am doing the same for my sister and her kids ( just 1 toy each ) and the rest I am doing clothes, socks, underwear and a pair of shoes each. If they have enough to fit the sizes they are in now I am just buying the next size up!

Tally both Kylie and Drew loved to play Dress up when they were that age. In fact they wore their Halloween Costumes out they played in them so much. They both loved books too.

By the way I love your puggy picture. Makes me remember my Charlie! smile

For my nephews I usually buy one toy each, one outfit each (now just a shirt or pant because they're bigger and clothes are more expensive), and then usually a DVD for them to watch together.

I think dressing up clothes is a great idea. Or anything that resembles something that adults use like vacuum cleaners etc. My DD loves to help me with chores.

Books and art stuff too, as you can play together.

When my nieces and nephews were that young I would normally ask the parents what to get. The problem I had was I didn't really know what they were into at the time, what they already had and what other people were buying them. I think it's quite a difficult age to buy for. Last year I did buy my niece a big craft set and her mum was not impressed as they make so much mess! lol!

I was browsing the stores over the weekend and things are so expensive.Gosh!

At Toys R Us they stock these story books that comes with either a dvd or a audio cd which I thought was quite nice. They not too expensive and they within my budget. So I will be getting those.

Thanks for the help everyone.

Tally, I think if you build them a cool fort they can play in, they will love it. Or some of those Little Tykes playhouses or jungle gyms, the smaller ones, are cool.

They love big, unusual toys too. I once screwed two big eyebolts right into the beams behind the drywall in the ceiling of our family room. Then I mounted a big red plastic Little Tykes rocket ship swing, and my kids thought it was the coolest thing ever to have a real swing inside our house. They played with that all the time.

Use your Temptress skills to entice a man to do it! That's a payment I'd gladly take for building a fort. sneaky
