Hi, I've been off the pill for about 2 months now and I'm still very depressed. I finally decided to go see a therapist. At my first visit, she said she did not believe the depression was related to the BCP, and that she's really never heard of this side effect. I feel again like I'm losing my mind. Should I switch counselors, or stick it out with this counselor? Any opinions would be helpful. Thank you!

I think you should a) bring in the insert from your pill package that SPECIFICALLY lists depression as a side effect, especially if it is prevalent in your family already or you have a history of it yourself, and b) tell her that she should really start listening to her clients, and then tell her you would like a referral to a counsellor who will listen to what you are saying.

Thank you for your feedback Raunchy-Row. I think your advice is very worthwhile. I'm going to discuss these things at my next appt. Thank you for your support, I'm so glad I found this website, it makes me feel slightly sane smile.
