Bunnygirl- I do plan on cutting out pops all together as well. What blood dissorder do you have? I have one too called Factor V Liden..nothing toserious now but I do have to be cautious when conveiving with it..trying to get hubby to cut off the energy drinks and what not too.

Beth- Thank youu..I'm doing my best. Although it sounds harsh, he won't be having any contact with the child if its his..and her ever again. I just wish that girl would think, I don't mean to sound stupid or selfish but shes so not fit or even deserves this blessing. She told him a few times there was no possible way she could get pregnant, so he believed her because he remembered how impossible it was for us to get pregnant. Then a month later shes pregnant..and he finds out she lied about it. Sorry, I'm venting still lol. I wish this wasn't happening..butyeah.

Onn the plus side...today I started my vitamins to help maintain healthy. I'm on vitamin E, Selenium, B6, B12, Vitamin C, Folic Acid, Vitamin D, Metformin 1000mg (for now) and will be getting Zinc right away. I'm planning on taking all of these prior to getting pregnant as I hear and researched that it can prevent chromosone breakage/miscarriage and help regulate the body more. I'm also going to start temping and have one prescription left of provera from may that i'm gonna take..just to bring on a cycle until I get a hold of my specialists office in a week and see when I can get in. Until then im trying the natural way, with metformin and what not. Hope something works. Has anyone ever taken all these vitamins? I feel like an intense pill popper lol.

Michelle, mostly I just take a good all-natural multi-vitamin, but I also take additional folic acid, vitamin e, and vitamin c. I take some other supplements as well and yeah, I feel like I could jump and rattle with all the pills inside me!

I have Antiphospholipid Syndrome. I have to be on Lovenox shots so the baby doesn't die and so I don't clot or have a stroke. I also take baby aspirin and have to daily for life. SO's best friend's wife has Factor V and the main issue with that was clotting or stroke around the time of delivery.

Ohh really, i didn't know those were the possible effects. I know my specialist had said before she'd want me to take warfarin (sp?) shots during pregnancy to reduce any risk..although i've never had any problemse with the blood disorder itself at all. I'll look more into it.

Beth- I too feel like i could rattle with the amount im taking. I heard selenium, b6 and 12 are good for women with PCOS, so hopefully this proves correct!

Michelle- That is a lot of pills. I take a prescription multi vitamin, additional folic acid with b6/b12, and a baby asprin. I have MTHFR which keeps the body from metabolising folic acid. And therombofilia which is some sort of clotting issue. So I take the baby asprin for that.

You have a lot to deal with. Your doing a great job of staying strong through this.

Warfarin Michelle? I thought Warfarin (or Coumadin) was a no-no drug during pregnancy. But I guess your doctor knows best.

That is a lot of pills!! I took a prenatal every day and a chewable vitamin C while I was TTC. I also drank greent tea everyday. Not sure if that makes any difference, but Im a big tea drinker .

I was told Coumadin was a huge no-no for pregnancy because it crosses the placenta and causes all sorts of bleeding issues in the baby. That's why they do either heparin or Lovenox injections with the preference being for Lovenox because it is an all-around safer drug and doesn't require a lot of lab work to monitor it's efficacy like the heparin does. Heparin and Lovenox are pretty close to the same medication, just different forms. Lovenox is low molecular weight heparin and regular heparin is unfractionated heparin.

You're absolutely right BG. Heparin requires frequent monitoring of bleeding times. Lovenox requires much less frequent monitoring. Warfarin requires frequent lab monitoring like Heparin. Double check to see if its indeed Warfarin they will want you to take Michelle, as I would be very hesitant to take it if it is indeed what they will want you to take. It has very serious complications even in a nonpregnant individual.

Don't want to scare ya. I've just never heard of Warfarin being prescribed to a pregnant woman, ever.

Since starting the Lovenox I've only had to have monthly blood counts done to check all my cell counts and platelet levels, but not any of the bleeding times. Somewhere between 32-36 weeks they'll switch me to twice daily heparin injections instead of Lovenox because it's easier to reverse for delivery so I'm not a high bleeding risk. At that point I'll need to have bleeding times and blood counts checked every one to two weeks depending on what the results are.

Nessa/BG- Oh reallly? Well i'm definitely going to ask her once I get in. I was hesitant in general taking blood thinners while being pregnant..so I guess I will see what she says. I'll keep you posted on that topic. I really hope I won't have to take blood thinners at all.

I take all the vitamins individually just so I know exactly what I'm getting...I'm awfully strange that way.

I have like a bazillion vitamins too! I have my 4 prenatals, 2 DHA capsules, 2 folic acid capsules, 2 dissolvable folic acid tablets in the morning, my Lovenox shot, and a calcium tablet. One calcium tablet in the middle of the day At night I have two capsules of supplement for my IBS, one baby aspirin, and another calcium tablet.

BG, do you eat dairy? Why do you have so many calcium supplements?

I eat tons of dairy. I'm on extra because anticoagulants deplete calcium from your bones.

Yeah BG Lovenox doesnt require testing of bleeding times. Mainly platelet counts and renal function, and liver function monitoring. Its Heparin and Warfarin that require frequent monitoring. IV heparin requires daily monitoring of bleeding times.

They are most likely switching you to heparin in the last weeks because heparin has a much shorter half life, and is likely to be clear of your system if am emergency csection is needed or if epidural is needed. Makes total sense.

Yeah, they also said it would be easier to reverse in an emergency with vitamin K if necessary. My only minor concern is that when I'm on twice a day shots I'm going to have a hard time picking spots to give the injections because you have to alternate sides and I already get a decent amount of bruising out of once a day shots. LOL

So, BG, did you have another scan that confirmed "boy"? You have a name already...

No, last two scans had vaby with legs crossed and hands in the way. I just haven't changed my ticker back to generic. We have had boy and girl names set for awhile though, so that's the boy name if it is one.

Hi girls! I'm not sure if everyone remembers me. We began TTC in Nov 2006. After many rounds of clomid, many rounds of IUI and a varicocele surgery for my DH, we were told that IVF with ICSI was our only hope. My dad was diagnosed with cancer soon after our last IUI and I lost touch with alot of dear friends here with everything going on. We have been trying on our own with little hope ever since and had just decided over the holidays that we would begin IVF in 2011. Well, amazingly last night I got my very first BFP!!!!!!!! I'm guessing that I am about 6 weeks along. My first appointment is next Thursday. We are absolutely thrilled but are in total shock! So, please take my story and don't ever give up hope!
