This happened to me when I stopped taking birth control after breaking up with my ex-fiance. I broke out like crazy and went on Retin-A (topical for the face). Retin-A words like MAGIC and it's not a pill that you take, you just put it on your face. BUT - and this is a BIG BUT, it's get's worse before it gets better.....and I mean, it gets really bad for weeks and your face gets all peely. But, then - it's gorgeous. It even helps with fine lines and gets ride of scars (like a mini-peel every day). I stopped using it when I went back onto birth control, but now I off BC again (using fertility awareness, because I'm FED up with hormones). So, I went back to my dermatologist to get on Retin-A BEFORE the acne comes back (as I suspect it will)

Ok im back and there is hope! Ive been on Yasmin for exactly a month now and i can see a BIG difference! i still have break outs but not half as bad as i had them a month ago. And i feel like my skin isnt constantly oily,.. like u know when u feel like theres always new acne coming through ur skin? not anymore.. my skins clean and im finding that they are easier to get rid of.

Ok me again! 7 months later.. Love yasmin! my skin still isnt amazing but its 98x better then it was and im willing to live with that! Yes ive definatly had weight gain,... and i find that im always hungrey. but at the moment id rather be a little more chubby and have good skin than vise versa

how long was the "it gets worse" occur. Like are we talking weeks or months?

I must agree - I had some gnarly acne a while back and no topical product did anything for me. I tried a colon cleanse (for other symptoms) and it just happened to nearly eradicate my acne as well. Something to think about. My parents tried [brand and link removed by moderator] Colon Cleansing and they said it was pretty great - some gross results though - but it works!

Do you remember the particular colon cleanse you used? Different brands may have different ingredients, and it may be one particular ingredient or formula that cleared up your acne. That would certainly be useful information for those dealing with acne!


If I understand this correctly.... you posted a link to a commercial product that you yourself have no personal experience with? And you're saying your parents used it for acne? If you mean they had good results using it as a colon cleanse, that isn't relevant to this discussion.

I loved yasmin for one reason and one reason only and it was that my acne cleard up. This is my 4th (i think) cycle off it and my acne returned bigger and badder than ever. Ive been using stuff with salicylic acid in it and after helping clear them up the salicylic acid helps to prevent future outbreaks.
